For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.If in addition to what you say, a thin black stripe can also be seen in the middle of its back, then I think it could be a common lizard (Podarcis muralis) which is a wild creacher and is best left to fend for itselfin the wild where it will catch fly, insects etc.
Nice to know there is still some around, I've not seen any in years, in spite of its name. All the Best.
A bit more information for you on the Common Lizard ICEMANSAV. As you will see it is a protected species, although not from capture like the Sand Lizard, but still advisable to let it go and live its life with the rest of its family.
