Window Problem

Can anyone tell me what would be the best thing to fill the gap between a metal window frame (yes the dreaded Crittal) and a wooden window sill?

how big a gap is a gap? I have used that expanding foam stuff- comes in a tube and expands as you squirt it into a gap. Great fun to use! But probably not much use for small gaps

Thanks for replying burnhal, the gaps range from cracks to as much as 1cm, do you think the foam would do the larger cracks? H.
