Deadhead daffodil bulbs?

Should I deadhead daffodil and other spring bulbs? Someone said I should leave them for six weeks after flowering, but I thought that was just the leaves.

Six weeks after the flower has died. Don't deadhead. Tie the leaves in a knot for tidiness.

Sorry but the last answer couldn't be more wrong. Yes - remove the flower heads as soon as they are past their best, taking care to remove what will be a seed pod. The idea is that the plant does not waste energy in producing seed.
As for the foliage, leave this for as long as possible - until it has died back if you can. After flowering the plants use the leaves to manufacture the 'goodness' which is stored in the bulb for next seasons flowering. If you really must tidy up, tie the leaves together lightly. Any breaking of the foliage, as will happen if you try to knot them, will prevent them doing their job.
