Strawberry offshoots

I have 6 strawberry plants which i have put in medium plastic pots and are looking healthy. There are many runners on each plant what should i do with these cut them off? . The main problem is that theres not many strawberry's but the leaves look healthy and green. If I cut off the runners (trailers) will this encourage more fruit to grow? Thanks for any help

Yes, the runners are using a lot of energy from the plant so should be cut off for an increased crop. Otherwise, hold them down, let them root, and later transplant them to increase the number of plants you have.

Thank you for your advice, I have just cut off the runners. hopefully I will get an increased crop.
I was contemplating on your idea about transplanting but i have no room at the moment.

Try to keep a couple of runners, and pot them on when they take, and they can replace the parent plant in two or three years - you then get healthy plants all the time. The parent plants are best discarded after five years,

Put some of your runners into small pots with compost and let them root, this will give you new plants for next year.
I would cut the rest off to allow the main plant to produce more fruit.
