cellar conversion? damp!

hello there i have a cellar conversion as my bedroom, only lived here for a few weeks but the air is stale down there and my clothes are starting to smell damp. (no windows either). what is best for me to do? air purifier? de humidifier? at the moment i just have nice smelling plug ins! please help? ta

You need to find a way to ventilate your bedroom to the outside. If you can install two small ventilators so much the better (one for intake, one for extract). Preferably one should have a built-in extractor fan but in any event once you have ventilation a small fan on the floor to circulate the air around the room and to the outside will cure it. If you are having trouble with a landlord speak to your Environmental Health Officer, as there are Rules for Underground Living which oblige landlords to install ventilation.
