In fact they are the good guys, they eat all manner of nasties and generally hang around out of sight. There was another thread recently where they said that they don't like the smell of conkers so you can put them in all the corners I suppose.
Or get a cat! ... Last summer 2 huge spiders were in my home, one was on the wall so my other half dealt with that one as i'm s*it scared and the other i almost did'nt see as it was crawling on my carpet but my eagle eye tabby pounced on it and did her worst! She did leave all the legs, which was gross for me to sweep up with dustpan and brush! x
But honestly if they are small i'm not so bothered, these were huge, black and hairy and you could see their face! Arghhhhh! xx

thanks for the replys guys, the thing is i really dont want to kill them i want to stop them coming in with a spray or something and to come home and never see one in my house again they are making my life a misery im sick of checking behind curtains, pictures, and every other hidey hole. i have coped with my fear knowing my husband will get them but he works away during the week now so i am stuck with them , i could never ever put one under a glass and pick it up and i would rather have a thousand flies than one spider.
I understand how you feel, but there is no efficient way of keeping spiders out of your house.
Don't worry about not being able to put them outside - house spiders are designed to live and die indoors - they won;t survive long outside, it's not their natural environment.
Try leaving a towel draped over the edge of your bath touching the bottom - this will enable any who fall in to climb out, and you probably won't see them.

there is a contraption that is a sort pf perspex pyramid on the end of a long pole - you place it over the spider and rotate the pyramid so that a small sliding door slides down and traps it. then you just walk to the door window and turn the pyramid the other way round again and it will fall out - the pole is about 3ft long, but you could always add a broom pole to it if you liked, so you never even need to go near it.
i expect a search on the net will turn one up - think it was about 5
there is also an essential oil that they don't like but i can't recall which one it is - perhaps do a search?

Maybe you need to conquer your arachnaphobia? Ian Banyard cured me of mine. I'll never love spiders but I no longer freak out if I see one and am quite able to just brush them aside if they venture too close. Ian can be found on the internet and he does run phobia classes regularly. I think he was on GMTVs House of Fear a few years ago.
