I have a garden swing seat with is upholstered with a type of material like you see under suites (a bit like the material used for potato sacks) the cushions sit on this material, which became torn and quickly turned into a huge hole, and as a result i cant use the seat anymore, even though the frame etc is in a brand new condition. Is there anywhere you can get a replacement for ths material thanks
If the material is what I'm thinking of, it's called hessian. Don't know where you can get it from, but if that's the right name it's narrowed the search down a bit for you- lol.
It could be, and probably is, just a woven polypropylene - cheapo stuff. (Welcome to the 21st Century, Boo)! Really, any strong woven material will do. Perhaps the best would be what's called 'duck canvas'. It's the stuff they use on those folding 'director's chairs'. May be a little difficult to get hold of, depending where you are, but a sail-maker would have it. Ask an upholsterer, or at a fabric shop - they'd probably be able to help.
