I have never had the house treated, just my dog or dogs and it seems to clear the house too.
You can now buy Frontline etc. 'over the counter' not just from the vets.

Kita1 is correct - most products bought from supermarkets and pet stores simply don't work.
Best get stuff from the vets and treat the animals properly. Some flea treatments will kill fleas on your cat and in the house, others just kill fleas on the cat - ask your vet about this.
You're doing the right thing by hoovering thoroughly twice a day - best way to get rid of the fleas and larvae in the carpet!

Last year my elderly cat suffered badly with fleas. I was constantly flea-combing then drowning the offending b*****s. Tried all the over-the-counter methods with little success. About 3 weeks ago he started to get them again and I used the Frontline - brilliant. All gone, no sign of any at all. I bought a years supply (6 vials) for 15.39 from www.vetuk.co (tried putting in the link but it wouldn't work for some reason). Ordered on the Friday arrived the next morning. Free post & packing. Well pleased :o)
This is what I was trying to describe!

As I said, why pay 17 for 4 when you can get 3 for just over 9 or 6 for 15.39.
