Aaaarrggghhh Wasps help!!!

My daughter spilled a fruit smoothie in the garden this morning and although I hosed it away immediately its attracting wasps like you wouldnt believe!
Does anyone have any idea what else I could do as its making her afraid to go into the garden since there are loads of them buzzing around (she is only 4).

My neighbour swears by ant powder just make sure to scatter some over some of the wasps they will then take it back to the nest and with any luck no more wasps

How about washing the area down with a strong solution of vinegar?
