My garden is becoming overun by some squirrels, and they are taking the food I put out for the birds. They live and breed in the loft of a nearby house. Can I buy a trap to catch them? Perhaps I could then let them loose in a local wood or park.

Red Squirrels are protected - Grey Squirrels are not - got a gun ?
You are allowed to trap them but not to realise them. Its the same as the mad people who let the mink go in Norfolk they are know a pest to our native wild life. I
f you realise them you can be prosecuted I refer to a story in the Daily Mail several weeks ago. Grey squirrels are not a native species you are allowed to shoot them Think of them as rats with bushy tails
We have successfully used a squirrel trap baited with peanut butter. We then drive them well away and let them go.
Does the 'nearby house' know? They should be worried, squirrels can do a lot of damage to their loft. They (or you) should get rid of the squirrels ASAP.

They are vicious, nasty critters - I can't imagine what some people see in them.
