i have a water meter is it true if you have a water butt you are not charged for surface drainage

Not true ... the water butt will only catch what falls from your roof, not the rain that flows off the ground ...

What is true is that if your downpipes do not feed into the main drainage (but feed into a butt and/or soakaways) you can get about �20 off the sewage part of your water services bill. Not many people seem to know it and the water companies don't seem to advertise it. Look on the back of your bill to see if any reference is made to it.
�20 per year, that is.

how much do you pay per month/year with a water meter? i'm moving into a 2 bed house soon and wondered how much to expect to pay.
