We have a" Vokera 12-48 rs mynute" combi boiler that creates a loud humming sound while at rest. Sometimes it goes very quiet as though it has switched off.
This originally happened after i had noticed that the pressure had dropped and the boiler had begun to make these noises. I thought it would sort itself out after i refilled it and bled the rads, but the noise has continued.
Any ideas on what to do next would be appreciated

Heard of it, tried it - didn't work! Sorry
We have a similar boiler to yours and we had a lot of trouble with it. It also made a humming noise but it also used to make a loud banging noise - especially if the hot water was being used. After much investigation we were told that our sealed, pressurised system must have a tiny leak or seepage somewhere. We never found a leak - I suspect it must have been under the concrete floors - but eventually the plumber poured sealant into the system and pumped it round. After about 2 hours the system sealed itself and we have never had any noise since.

It may be worth asking a plumber about yours.
I had the same problem with a Vokera about 6 years ago. I thought it was an airlock in the pipes so bled and it had no effect. In the end a had to get a bolier guy round. It was a quick job that cost about 40 all in all. I wish I could remember exactly what the problem was.... saying that though it's better to get someone qualified in when it's the boiler
