after a good few months of the above ground pool being good it has now started to turn the water green and im not sure how to cure it. i have shocked it with chlorine and all the other levels are ok. am i missing something or doing something wrong?
Hi slickst3r, I think you can get some preparation from garden centre which deals with ponds etc., that you can indroduce into your pond that will cure your problem. Skylight
Ours would go green for a few weeks every year but comes back clear on its own. Have you enough plants in the water to keep it clear? I find the things you buy for green water arent good for the fish but if you shade a lot of the surface it will go back to what it was.
Methinks the last person to answer was a tad confused....lol..... You need Algicide[ I think thats what it's called] you can get it from the same place you buy your chlorine.

The problem with water is the sun. If your water is green you won't have blanket weed. If you get rid of green water you will get blanket weed. I use a UV light to get rid of green water and various plants to keep blanket weed down. I never use chemicals and I found barley straw didn't work. If you keep fish and not just Koi I bought 2 Grass Carp and they keep blanket weed down but protect plant roots
