Which shrubs would you experts recommend for a small, very alkaline garden in Kent, which is likely to be a bit of a frost pocket?

A few I think may be suitable for your garden are-
Lilac (syringa)
Box (buxus)
Yew (taxus)
Mexican orange blossom (choisia)
Dogwood (cornus) but not the larger flowering varieties
Vibernum.
