Fire proofing

What is the easiest way to make a pair of flats comply with fire regs to satisfy building regs. I have larthing plaster ceilings and have been told by a friend that i would need fire retardand material up there. What do i need and best way to do it.

Easiest way would be to overboard the ceiling with fire retardant plasterboard and re-plaster the ceilings.

You can get a special paint, but need 10 coats or more
