I am 23 and having to live with my parents until i can find a job that pays me well. I recently finished uni but due to the low pay of my current job cant afford to rent.
On my basic hours i will have after tax around 450 a month. I DO help a lot around the house with washing and cleaning etc. I also use my mum's car a lot at the moment as i recently passed my test so i pay for all the petrol that car uses. I contribute if we go for a meal or a day out and have a lot of debt on credit cards at the moement so really cant afford to give parents much at the moment. Though i work in a shop so when i can i buy food for mum which i would hope keeps the food bill down a bit.
Am i doing enough should i be making a set contribution a month?

It seems you are doing enough. I was in a similar situation, i.e. low paid job studying full time (while at college, no loans availble to me). I did stuff round the house etc but I also paid my parents 50. It didn't pay for much but was a token jesture.
I'd suggest offering to pay 25 a month as a good will gesture, tell them that is what it is as you can't afford more, I'm sure they will say it's OK but it's the offer that counts.
