Help me please. I want an insulating jacket to replace a very old one on my domestic hot water cylinder. Local DIY stores no longer appear to stock such an item and my efforts to purchase one 'on line' have been futile. What do I do now?

I think that's because all hot water cylinder tanks now come with their own insulation bonded onto the actual tank. Could you improvise by padding some green or black plastic bin bags with some kind of insulating material , wrapping them round the tank and tieing them in place?
Check your 'Yellow Pages' or local advertiser fot Plumbers merchants and give them a call.
If you cant find one try an old duvet
If you can afford it change to the bonded cylinder type.
You can then have hot water constantly. We only switch off when we are away.
I work for a very big central heating company ;)

We get our supplies (inc cylinder insulation) from Plumbcenter so give them a try. Also we use PTS plumbase

Cheers

Thanks everyone. All good advice.
I'll still try purchasing but, failing success, I'll have a go at making a tank cover along the lines as have been suggested.
