Of all the ones I've looked at I like the thought of 5 years guarantee with a 'Miele' though it's about twice the price of many! I just read someone has a White Knight into its 7th year, which is great by any standards
I bought a White Knight 'Intellidry Advanced Drying System' approximately seven years ago. It is brilliant, you just put the clothes in and walk away. It works out the drying time for you. I didn't take out any of those extended warranty offers as I think it's unnecessary. My dryer has never given me any bother or cost me anything in repairs etc. I would recommend it.
I've not got a tumble drier but I do have a Miele washing machine and I can't recommend it enough. I've checked on the John Lewis website and the Miele tumble driers are the same as the washing machines, they are designed to have a 20 (yes, twenty) year life span. There is a free five year guarantee with one of the tumble driers, I was obviously very lucky with my free 10 year guarantee on my washing machine! http://www.johnlewis.com/Home+and+Garden/Laund ry+Room/Laundry+Room/Special+Offers/2768/23030 6600/Product.aspx
I love my miele tumble dryer. It calculates the drying time, so stops when my washing is dry to the setting I choose.
It is super quiet, so I can set it to run in the middle of the night, when I have cheap electricity.
And the miele guarantee is reliable. I had a problem with my 18 month old freezer. They repaired it, but I still wasn't satisfied so it was replaced by a brand new one.
The casings are very high quality, so keep their looks too.
i have a hotpoint dryer plus that was bought new in 1990. it still works as well now as it did then and i have three children and do lots of washing and drying.i have never had it serviced or mended, wonderful machine.
while there are bound to be exceptions ... you get what you pay for ... if Miele are that sure that you will get 20yrs ffrom one of their machines why do they not offer a 20 yr warranty ? ... Dont get me wrong, they are fantastic machines ... its just that its not just about the purchase price ... its about service support / price of spares should it need to be repaired etc etc
Mmmm! definately points to ponder, thanks everyone.
I think the prospect of a machine being 'in situ' for a number of years without replacing has a certain appeal - especially if you saw the site it's to be housed in,block and tackle job!
The Miele special '5 year' offer is till November so I'll sleep on it a while longer...
