i work a few nights a week away from home every week, whats cheaper. leaving my water heater turned on or switching it off and re-heating when i get home

If you have an immersion heater, and you are away turn it OFF, you will save a bit of money and also cut down the risk of a fire,if the thermostat became faulty while you were away this could Boil the water in the tank or if a fault occurs in the wiring on the immersion heater the wires can become very hot, so please turn it off.Ray
Ray's right - a friend of mine is a firefighter - one of the top ten causes of fire in the house due to electrics is an immersion heater left on.
