I have just returned from Spain, and saw lots of white flowering very strongly scented shrubs in the gardens of urbanizations. I am trying to identify what type of shrub this might be. The flowers were almost star shaped, about 1/2" wide with 5 slim white petals coming from a long tube. Any ideas? thanks!

It sounds like Nerium (oleander) I'll look for an image 4 u
Although we have a lot of Oleander in Spain (it grows all along the motorways) I didn't think it was particularly strong smelling If it was strongest at night I think it might be Dama du Noche or Galan du Noche whichever you like to call it. It has a really headdy sweet smell at night.
