Does anyone know if there is any recycling possibility for keys?
The only suggestion I have come across is to make them into a windchime.
That's fine but I actually want to dispose of them in an environmentally sound manner.

Any reason why you can't throw them into the metal bin at your local council dump?

Good suggestion but we don't have metal bins at the local dump-only paper, bottles, garden waste and cans.
sell them on Ebay under the craft section - people are always looking for stuff like this and anything with a craft theme generally gets a good price.

Good idea Jules but I'm looking for something easier!
Why not drop them off at a scrap metal merchants? They collect all sorts of metal for recycling.
If youre in England your Council will operate a Household Recycling Centre. Its more than a glass/paper/cans dump in a car park somewhere.

Have a look in your local phone book or phone your council to find out where it is. It might not be round the corner from you, but you might be able to drop the keys off there when youre next driving past.

thanks antiguru and others for your suggestions. I do go to our council recycling centre regularly with furniture, garden waste and large cardboard boxes -recycling items that are not collected in the usual weekly way. I will ask the council about metal. I do know there is no facility at the recycling/rubbish centre.
