Slate floor tiles

I am thinking about getting black slate floor tiles for my kitchen. Can someone tell me how they stand up to wear and tare? i.e. do they get scuffed and scraped with chairs and tables getting moved all the tiime etc>

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.slate is a very soft stone, and is easily damaged. Also stone floor tiles can be very cold t owalk on (unless you get under floor heating.
my mum used to have them, and dropped a casserole dish on the floor once, and thr drop smashed both the tile and the dish!
