Peter... ..they are all the bloomin' same !
We are having a tussle with that lot with the red phone on wheels at the moment over storm damage to our roof and getting nowhere .First claim in over thirty years on any insurance we have ever had..You bung them money year after year and then when you are in the mire they don't want to know .
I am no help ..just wanted to let off steam !

Persist and speak to a manager in the company. They have strict rules governed by the ombudsman. If they don't conform slap them with a complaint sharpish. The sooner you do the sooner it will be over
May the force be with you
Peter ,..thank you for that ..This has been going on since August when we had torrential storms here in Norfolk and lots of local flooding The force of the rain broke our guttering and damaged the roof. They wont accept estimates from any builders (too expensive) and will only pay for the inside damage (leaky ceiling). They sent two roofers round who said it was wear and tear after spending all of ten minutes up there. Mr S. has insisted on a report from said roofers but I reckon they got a backhander from the insurance surveyor to say this so they don't have to pay out .Our patience is wearing a bit thin now so I think the Ombudsman is our next port of call.
Good luck with your search for a competent insurance company !
Good insurance company is an oxymoron.

Just go for the cheapest. You will have to fight any claim anyway so save the money in the first place.

Good luck.
