Have used my cheap and cheerful plastic greenhouse to bring on trays of seeds and grow tomatoes successfully, but because of the size of the garden it is in a rather shady part. Is there anything I can use it for during the Winter months remembering that it is not heated and because of the shade could get quite cold?

You could try growing sweet peas in there those sweet pea exhibitors start them off early on in the year . I store my geraniums and fushias in a cold greenhouse and take cuttings from them they don't mind the cold so much but suffer if they get overwatered in the winter . If youre worried it might get too frosty where you live you could always put a cloche or a cold frame over them
