My radiators are making a gurgling noise since i had my toilet unblocked 5 days ago and new down pipes fitted. I have bled the radiators individually till the water runs out both with the pump on and when its off, some radiators are cold some are working. I cant seem to work out when or how to do it properly without the expense of getting a plumber in any advise please ?? Many thanks xx
I find it difficult to establish a link between the toilet work and your radiators if the new down pipe referred to is the soil pipe .
My amateur understanding is that you should only bleed the radiators with the pump off. Start with the lowest (downstairs) radiators first and then do the highest (upstairs) radiators last. I'm sure some more knowledgable people here will give you further advice or see this article:
There is only a possible connection between the work that was done and your problem. If they some how by mistake opened the boiler system. Pump should be off, Boiler water temp. should be cool, Should always start at the highest point first and work downward to bleed air. Make sure boiler water press. is around 12 to 14 lbs. when starting to bleed and stays at that press. as you bleed and also when your done. If it dosen't, post back with what you experienced.
