Can anyone please suggest a (laundry) washing machine that gets on with the job, instead of taking ages like most of them seem to these days? Thanks.

I have just bought an Indesit washing machine. It was 199 about the cheapest machine you can buy, but I had no choice because it was the only one with the right depth for my space. However, it has a thirty minute quick wash which is ideal for me (an OAP) probably no good if you have active children but excellent for lightly soiled garments or daily washes.

I have a miele machine which also has a quick (thirty minute) wash. A full long wash can take just under two hours, but not everybody needs this so you can cut it down to a short wash which takes 1 hour 25 minutes. With having two teenage boys who like playing football, skateboarding etc I often use the long wash.
