I stuck hooks onto my fireplace for stockings and I can't get the sticky bit off. I think the fireplace is black marble or something to resemble it anyway. Don't want to risk damaging the surface as I'm renting. I've used washingup liquid on a sponge/scourer but can't get it all off. Any help much appreciated. Steph.

nail varnish remover if you are male ask the girl next

A squirt of WD40 should do it too. I've used it many times to remove that horrible sticky residue you get on items after removing sticky price labels.
Eucalyptus oil on a soft cloth then rub over area.
