I keep getting blamed for high electricity bills in my house, and my family say it is because i leave my laptop on all the time. i thought that it would be a very minimal amount of power being used as its only keeping the battery charged? Am i right or does it use a lot of electricity? thanks!

Do you set it to sleep mode? If the screen is off most of the time I doubt if it would use more than 10 watts.
They probably use more power having the central heating up half a degree too much, or boiling a full kettle each time they make on cup of tea, than you do with the laptop.

Electricty (and Gas) have both gone up a LOT in price lately so it maybe the family are using the same amount of gas and electricity but it is is just costing more.
