In my kitchen my tumble dryer, washing machine and cooker stick out about 10cm from the surrounding units and worktops. I want to have new worktops that cover this 10cm + so I can have cupboard doors built to hide the appliances. I don't suppose there's any way of extending the current carcasses by 10cm or is the only way to install a brand new kitchen?

if its a straight run bring the cabinets off the wall to 2 ins forward of the appliances and buy a extra deep worktop 900mm to cut back

Thanks for that. So it wouldn't matter if there's a gap at the back then? I did think that but wasn't sure if it would work or be unstable.
It'll be fine

Just realised - in between two rows of units there's a door so two ends of cabinets will be seen - there'll be gaps at each end won't there? Could I buy two new sides (don't know what they're called) to fix over the existing side of the carcasses that would be on show?
