Knocking noise from pipes

We get loud knocking noises from our pipes during and after our central heating has been turned off-We can get it up to a few hours after the boiler has been turned off, Can anyone help me?

I am sure a plumber could answer this better, but i think it sound like you have an air trap in your heating system. Try bleeding the radiators, or releasing the air from the high valve.
