while re-tiling our kitchen we've noticed small weevil type things crawling about behind the old tiles. Any ideas what they could be. Our house is only 5 years old if this helps.

I thought a weevil was a toy from the 80`s (they wobbled but didn`t fall down) :)

The insects you are refering to are known as silver fish, I come across them often when stripping out kitchen's, They seem to like moist greasy and dark areas, The grooves in the adhesive behind tiles caused by a grooved applicater or trowel is a honeycone of passageways and an ideal enviroment. When re-tiling walls I try to prevent re-infestation by sealing around the worktops with cylacone before tiling and also making sure there are very little or no gaps in the adhesive behind the tiles.
