I have an antique silver teapot. I think perhaps the surface (silverplate) has mostly gone - it appears black. What's the best way to clean it?

the black is probably just tarnishing. I use a small bottle of silver polish I bought from my local supermarket. Silver sparkles when I've used it!

When silver oxidises it turns black. As Lou says, visit your local supermarket and get some 'Goddards Silver Polish'.
