Records held by the Police
I wonder if anyone can help. Back in 2001 I was arrested by the Police on suspicion of "outraging public deceny", basically and as I found out later, two pensioners had been flashed at and had (incorrectly) given the licence plate of my car to the Police. I was arrested at home and my house was serarched (the nosey neighbour over the road had a field day!) I was initially bailed and after proving my innocence when I answered bail six weeks later, (At the time of the incident my wife proved to the Police that she was driving my car some 160 miles away! and I proved through BT and a statement from a bank employee that I was talking on the phone at home around the time of the incident) As said my innocence was proved when I answered bail and was never charged with any offence. After giving the Police a piece of my mind for their lazy Police work (again I later found out that the description of the flasher was nothing like me) I never heard anything from them (no apology, nothing... despite putting me through a very stressful period). I have never been in trouble with the Police before or since the incident but it still bothers me that on some local Police database if my name is input it will flash up (poor choice of words) "suspected sex offender". Can any one put my mind at rest?
