keeping dogs out of the garden

Help! Please can anyone tell me how to keep a neighbour's dog (who is left to wander on its own) from coming into my garden and using it as a toilet? Is there any deterrent that would help it to keep away? Thanks!

I use some chrystals called "keep off" or "get off"! Sorry, cant remember exact name.
You can get them from pet shops/garden centres/diy stores. (they are not harmful to any animals)
They are in chrystal pellet type things and also a spray. Not a 100% effective but they did improve things alot.
Other than that I think the only other thing is speaking to your neighbour, if thats possible, or putting up some wire/fence/other bushes?

try putting ex-lax chocolate outside your garden in the evening so when their dog eats it then goes in for the night they will wake up to a pile of poo in their house. doesn't solve your problem but loads of satisfaction!!
as every one else has said put netting/mesh up with sturdy stakes to hold it upright may be the solution and put pepper/dog off around as an extra deterrent.
also , how do you know it's their dog doing this, seeing that you are out?
