Well i have a power shower, and even there is plenty of hot water in the bathroom the shower runs cold straight away, i cannot see it being the pump, else the water would not be at pressure, if any body has any ideas before i go and spend an arm and a leg on getting a plumber out, please reply.

I had that problem and it turned out to be a small element on top of the shower`s internal water tank. It was very inexpensive to repair. If you have a local shower shop they will be able to give you the details and advice. If it is any help my shower was a Mira shower and all the spares are available on the net. Just google your shower make and spares. Hope yours is as easily put right....no joke having a cold shower in this weather. Elly.
I find putting .50p in the meter helps!
Or buy a new hamster.

Thanks for the good advise EllyD, was your shower a power shower with a Hot and a cold feed, as mine has a seperate pump in the loft and just the control valve in the bathroom as far as i know there is not a seperate tank for the shower, any more ideas, As for Sharky-moron's answer I think we can all guess what sort of showers this windie licker takes.

Hi , yes mine was a power shower and was cold filled. Inside the power shower control box was a small tank with an element - like a kettle in function, and it was the heater function that had packed up. This was positioned on top of the wee tank. If you can take the front off the control box, you might be able to see if it the same configuration as mine. I got an electrician, not a plumber to mend mine. Took him about 10 minutes to do it. Elly.
plums, it could be a few things .

looking at your second post you don't have an electric (kettle/cold feed only ) type of shower but one that regulates the hot and cold at the tap/valve

1; the thermostat valve is faulty so only lets cold through.

2;there is limescale or something causing a blockage in the thermostat valve. or hot feed to it.
try undoing the hot feed check the flow is ok to the valve. if not, blow air/water back up the pipe to dislodge the blockage.be carefull...hot water! ( i had a pipe in my central heating that got some insulation from the loft in it. kids playing in the loft knocked a lump of insulation in the tank. ooppps! )
3;the pump has failed on the hot side . ( i asume you have a pump that presures both hot & cold in the loft ) but you say this is ok

.

Thanks Markja and elly(again).

Yeah the pump is still up to pressure, but yes it could be the hot feed side of the pump that has failed, as there is no thermostat in the shower, as i assume the pump regulates the heat, via the control knob in the shower. Must get it sorted as I am getting stress from the wife.....Thanks again

If anybody is still interested my shower is still not working, but I have worked out that is the cartridge inside the shower, which Bristan want 97 for, pah, but getting the cartridge out was more expensive, cracked some tiles and crooked the old back getting in and out of the old loft......Anyway thanks to you all for your responses.....

Maybe, as EllyD did, you should've hired the services of a good electrician, But, as the old adage goes, hindsight is a great thing. Good luck with your shower HairyPlumes, may your water run tepid and your soap foam agreeably.
