why can I buy a decent matteress that won't cost the earth? and do any companys take away my old materess?

If you want your matteress taking away your best going to a local family run one and make it part of the deal to buy a new one some might tell you to give the driver a couple of quid

If it will fit inside your car why not take it along to your council civic recycling centre. Its free!

last time i treated myself to a new mattress (from Dreams ) the man explained that they don't take away old mattresses as most old mattresses have bed bugs and if they had old ones in the van with the new ones there was a chance that the new ones could get infected, yuck !!! , it made absolute sense and i took my old one to the council recycling place ,if you don't have a car, try phoning your council and see if they collect it for free ,or they might make a small fee for collection -depends on where you live

It depends where you are but I bought a new mattress last year from Ikea, which are very reasonably pricedm I cah highy recommend the Sultan Hogbo mattress.

As for disposal of your old one, our local council charges �10 but we managed to take ours to the local tip.

Or join your local yahoo freecycle group. Someone may be looking for an old mattress and be happy to come and collect it from you. Not sure about cheap ones, factory shops or auctions, sometimes they have new mattresses in them.

Just a question when you bought you bed or mattress did you lie on it ?
The ones on show with no protective cover on ?
Why i ask is where do you think that bed goes after a while well ive worked for big bed companys and it goes in a wrapper and sent out to a customer unknown.
You as a child would of had a mattress made of horses hair as all old mattress was did it do you any harm.
And you may be right about the van but where did you think that metal/wood/plastic come from and if the driver needed to move and old settee from his house do you think he would use his van?
The driver has to say this to you because as the world has gone mad you could of complained and the company would be at fault but i bet they do it with out you knowing
