travel insurance
I took out a travel insurance last year but a couple of days before I was due to go away I was taken Ill I went to claim on my travel insurance and they gave me a claims form which included a section for my doctor to fill in which he did since then they have done nothing but mess me about I got a letter just before christmas asking me to fill out a form saying that they could get my medical history for the last 18 months off my Doctor only they didnt enclose the form I emailed them several times and eventually wrote to them they said they never got my emails but did send the form which I sent back by return they then sent me a letter saying they were turning down my claim and didnt need my medical history after all I had been ill about a year prevous to that but was not on any medicatication at the time or under going any tests in fact had long ago been given the all clear by my doctor. I am not sure if this is the right section to put this in, but can anyone help me as what to do. I didnt declare the previous illness on the proposel form as I didnt think it relevant as I was not on any medication or under going any tests at the time as I have already said. Many thanks in advance

So if the reason you cancelled was related to, or a recurrence of the illness you suffered a year previously, even if you had fully recovered from it, then the insurance company are within their rights not to pay if you didn't disclose it to them when taking out the insurance.
If the reason you cancelled was a completely different illness then they should pay up.

it will depend what the form asked you to include, but also whether it's a recurring illness. If you had cancer that came back you're unlikely to be covered. But if you just broke your leg a second time I can't see why that should count against you.

I think you will find that if you did not declare everything[ down to a pimple on your bum these days] when you took the policy out then they will refect your claim.
I have also found that the more you declare [ I am taking a disabled asthmatic lady to the States] to them the more the price goes up and we have had quotes as high as 435 for 8 days in the US for her, whereas last year it was 67 done by Thomas Cook this year they said no, not any more, go to specialist insurance.
There must be an ombudsman for travel insurance claims, and whilst you have my heartfelt sympathy, I dont think you will win.
It all depends on the information you gave them when you took out the policy and the small print says if you omit anything its null & void.
good luck and let us all know how you get on pls.
