You may have mildew in your wardrobe. Empty it, and leave the doors open for a couple of days, then add a bowl of pot porri for a couple more days, and see if this helps.

I think that Andys suggestion would only be a tempory solution. Allong side following his advice look for black spotting in the wadrobe and try to scrubb it off (with bleach if possible but take care not to dammage the wardrobe. Then air the wardrobe thoroughly and to stop the mildew regrowing put a dehumidifyer in it. You can get silica gel based ones which don't require electicity. It you keep the wardrobe dry you should avoid further mildew problems.

Esther08 - First place I bought only had warm air heating, wardrobes were built in, but on external walls. Dehumidifier [as Hamish suggests] was a godsend. You could also try, an insulating layer on the wall - something like polystyrene tiles, or what worked in parents place was a greenhouse type heater [electrical, like a long tube about 6" high. Put at the back of wardrobe, they should have a built in thermostat. Put some air vents at the top of the wardrobe [either in doors or walls] then you'll get a decent flow of air through & no pongs. Don't pack clothing in too tight, and move them round once in a while.
