Car Parking NHS
Is it legal for the NHS to charge employees �10 per month for a car parking space on their land even though they cannot guarantee that there will be one available?

I would guess they are trying to make coming in by public transport more appealing, which is a government priority. Also they are trying to not be in deficit ... another government priority. The hospital i worked at 10 years ago had this (except it was more i think) and every subsequesnt place ive worked in has had it, with the exception of if you do shift work or community work, And loads of places do it so if it was illegal i think there would have ben a challenge already
Slightly off the point, but my hospital charges �2 to park your car for any reason, like visiting a relative or attending a clinic. I can understand trying to deter commuters (and I might only go two or three times a year) but this looks like another stealth tax to me. Across the whole country it must run into millions of pounds. The bus is more expensive and takes ages.
