Loft insulation found in vegetable plot.

I have been digging a new vegetable plot and have found what looks like loft insulation buried in the ground, I have removed most of it but there is still quite a bit of the material still buried. Is there any risk of contamination of the ground or the vegitables grown in the plot.

This sounds as if it may be batches of fibreglass which is a major irritant and when installing it in lofts, individuals are recommended to wear gloves and face masks, so it certainly isn't the kind of material you want mixed up with your vegetables or in the soil.. I would ring the Health & Safety Department of your local council and ask for some advice

Check to see if it is fibreglass, melts in a flame,it may be some old lagging made from fibre and this could eventually rot down,glass will never rot away and it would be surprising if a gardener dug it in .
