It is unlikely that house prices will fall in real terms, and if they do there will be less houses on the market, simply because there will be less profit for builders of new homes, and homeowners will not be able to afford to sell.

After a while of limited supply, demand will push prices up - and so it starts all over again.

thanks ethel - wat a pain!!!
Depends where you buy too - my luxury beach front house in Scotland only cost me 145k.

And a top of the range showhome built by Wimpey and left fully furnished was offered to me at 205k.

But it does look bleak in the south and east!
The trick is not to buy a house. Find a garden with an outdoor loo and squat in there. With the great savings that you make, you could extend out and erect a pigeon shed. Hope this helps.
Nice idea Spudmuffa, but I understand that pigeon sheds need planning permission, given the health and safety implications and potential for neighbours to complain.

I suggest a small conservatory, which has the added advantage of allowing the squatter to see who is knocking* at the door, should a visitor come calling, perchance.

*Or ringing, should one stretch to the luxury of a doorbell.

Scotchollie has returned from an extended mission abroad and is looking to buy a place by the sea. With an extra large kennel for Bejaysus. Have house prices returned to a sane level Miss Laverty - or are you married with children and living in your own pad now, eh? xx
