placing a trampoline?

I have just bought a very large 14ft trampoline , its far too big for the back garden and i wanted to place it in the front garden as the space is bigger , my only concern is that we moved here six months ago and its a very posh area , do you think it will lower the tone ? (so to speak).I wouldnt want to upset any of the neighbours or have complaints made against me. My wife thinks we should just put it in the front garden but im not too sure . What do you think?

I suppose it depends in someways how enclosed your front garden is - is there a high hedge or fence round it or would the trampoline be on full view to all the neighbours and passers by?

Do your neighbours have children who are likely to play on it with your kids? If so, they can hardly say anything can they! I think it will be the ones who don't have children who won't be happy about it.

At the end of the day there is no law against it and if you want it there then there is nothing to stop you but I doubt your neighbours will be impressed.

There have been lots of complaints about trampolines - in particular that people using them are able to look into neighbours' homes and gardens.

If you position it so that users can't see into otherwise private windows, you should be okay.

I live in a similarly v.posh area, now I have to come clean that we have a similar on going debate : about a washing line that would be much more efficent if placed in the front , but according to Mister Sense to have the washing out front 'would be just too pikey for words' . If the trampoline will fit, not be a distraction to motorists, and you don't mind the rows over other kids being unable to resist it, do it. We do have ours placed to the front and side of our house ( so it is obviously not that bad, or Mr Sense would never have placed it there!) It does not overlook anyone, our kids are considerate to others when they use it ( low noise , mainstream hours, etc) and it does not squeak - unlike all the others in the neighbourhood, kids not at security risk -very low foot traffic in my road, and thay have to leave the door open and tell us when they are using it so we can supervise informally.
Kids paraphenalia is not usually considered complaint worthy, unless you have real miserable sods surrounding you. Presumably you have worked hard to live there so - I'm with the missus, just do it!

Hi, I am a trampoline coach and would recommend sinking the trampoline into a hole in the garden, this way it doesn't stand out like a sore thumb in your posh area and also the children won't be able to bounce high enough to see over your neighbours fences.
Make sure that the trampoline isn't accessible by others when you are not around though, I'm not sure what the law is but if someone sees it and jumps on it and subsequently injures themselves check you are not liable!

My neighbours bought a huge trampoline for their kids. The noise is driving me mad. The constant squeek squeek is bad enough but the kids squealing is terrible. I'm not against kids enjoying themselves but it is intrusive to be sitting in your garden quietly enjoying the day and have to not just hear the noise but have kids watching what I'm doing. Plus it took off and severely damaged my roof 2 years ago. Depends on whether you like your neighbours I guess,

Our neighbours have a trampoline which is placed at the furthest point from the back of their house and almost against our rear fence. last year we had a small amount of disturbance and rudeness from the young lad in the house along with three of his mates. A quick word with them stopped the rudeness.
This year the boys are bigger and noisier and a regular feature on the trampoline from around 3.30pm till 6pm but so far totally ignore us. I wonder if it is going to stay that way.
