We have a path between our house and the next that doesnt get alot of night but has a small fence/border running up it. We're keen on growing herbs etc and was wondering what plants would look nice but not mind a location that doesnt get direct sunlight throughout the day?

herbs generally need the sun.
in a shady spot u can try ferns, hostas ,vinca and ajuga. Will make a nice textured display with some purple flowers
There are quite a few plants that would grow well in that situation, mostly plants used for ground- cover under trees, you may wish to brows at some of these- Bergenia (Elephants ears), Epimedium (birthwort), Paulmonaria (Lungwort), Vinca (perrywinkle),Heuchera, Tiarella, Lamium, and Pachysandra.
A few herbs that may also do well in part-shade are- Mezuma, Rocket, Parsley, mustard and Chervil.
