plum trees

I would like to plant a dual variety plum tree.When is a good time of year to plant and are there any suppliers in East midlands area .?Greenfly

hi green fly, I live near boston and have not actually seen any plum trees anywhere local. I had a victoria plum when I lived on the south coast and that only fruited every three years(victoria plum). I think the rules are you plant two of different species so they can pollinate each other. the years ours did crop was really good, well worthwhile planting.
