If you are DIYing or cleaning the skirtings or dusting, what do you best like as an accompaniment ? I have been finishing the beading upstairs and I had Glenda Jackson reading "Little Women" to me. Lovely and happy, near death from scarlet fever and Islam-free. She sat in the corner saying "were" instead of "where" but in a kindly Hampstead sort of way that utterly disarmed me. She had to leave early because she was worriied about traffic on the M25. I was very grateful, and am left with kindly images of Meg and Jo and Beth and Aunt March.

call me cheesy but vh1 classic is always a favourite of mine
Cleaning the skirtings? I just blow the dust off with the vac.
I like to listen to Gerry Rafferty or Josh Grobin
Question Author
Gerry Rafferty, Hearts Run Dry, Winter's Come, and most especially Moonlight and Gold.

Better still,
It's easy to talk. Brilliant!!!
I love a bit of Blondie!!

I love you so much, but you're leaving today, somehow we've lost touch, I can't make you stay..... etc.

Yes, brilliant On A Wing and a Prayer.

So many many memories there and skirting boards.
Hope they are good memories Whiffey!
Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents," grumbled Jo, lying on the rug. It's so dreadful to be poor sighed Meg, looking down at her old dress..........
They didn' t have microfibre dusters though ..poor things ....I have my own version of Aunt March for whom I have to do the odd cleaning job !! But I have to listen to her banging her walking stick on the floor and telling me I have missed a bit .
I wish Terry Wogan was on in the afternoons :))) xxxxxxx

How did Wogan get into this thread ? Not that I'm bothered.

It's RAINING here, and I can't be ar$ed to seek out and add to the really riveting thread I started during the wee small hours about rain.

But having said that, it is still raining here as of 9pm. It's a bit more crinkly poo than it was last night, a bit more like God watering the dahlias than flushing out spiders.
Norah Jones or Madeleine Peyroux....luuuuv her voice-like velvet. You should have been down here in south Devon-not a cloud in sight (almost!) and cool and crisp like a day in September.
when doing DIY I love listening to some opera, maybe some arias, or my favourites Cavaliera Rusticana, (The intermezzo is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard) Or Carmen, La traviata, if not opera, a bit of Cat Stevens or simon & Garfunkel, great stuff
whiffey for you to relax to.

Thank you, that is beautiful, about the only piece of opera, Mozart aside, that I love. It also reminds me of my collecting days - was it ever possible to buy Cavalleria Rusticana without Leoncavallo's Pagliacci on the flip side ?
Glad you liked it whiffey, Pagliacci and rusticana, both being very short operas are I believe always performed together, to make up roughly the length of a normal opera, I have seen them both on 3 occasions, performed by the WNO, and I have grown to like pagliacci, I doubt very much there are seperate recordings, but may be wrong, I am off to bed now, so goodnight, whiffey.
