yellow line infraction??

i have a business in the middle of a square in town. The square has double yellow lines around it but at some point someone has made a parking bay for two cars, ( i assume it was the council)although the lines do not go into the bay. I park in the bay but recently got a ticket and i contested it with a warden who informed me she had radioed through to ask control wether i was to be given a ticket. They said yes. If the warden was unsure of the parking restrictions how is a member of the public to know?? i was given the usual " yellow lines go to the nearest building" line but this is quite clearly a parking bay. There are no signs or restrictions as to the usage of the bay but there is a police box nearby. police said it isnt their parking bay, should i fight the ticket?? any advice please. thanks

Write to the council asking what their stand on the parking bay is and what restrictions apply as you cannot see any in force.

If they reply saying there aren't any - use the letter as an appeal. Does it say onthe ticket you received what the actual offence was ? Was it a loading bay and you werent seen to be loading ?

what do the time plates say at the parking bays? are there any time plates?do the lines go through the bays? the council dont need to place time plates near double yellow lines, as they mean no parking at any time, but they have to put in place time plates at all parking bays. personally, i would fight the ticket.and a police box is only a police box. hope this helps.

if ther are no time plates for the bays, then the ticket is void.
you definately will not need to pay the ticket!!!!!
