Hi moving from Essex to USA. Can you recommend a firm of removals? Thanks TJ
My friend was impressed with these guys, she has used them three times. They have kids, pets, delicate wine to shift ,a mix of antique and modern furniture, also a big art collection. They work for a large international company, who I believe re tender contracts on a reg. basis and these guys are still on book.

also very popular at school are Sterling which can be found in this list all of which pitch up around my commuter- belt town on a regular basis. No major horror stories about condition of items recieved being damaged. Things are delayed, the worst one I know of was a family whose container was offloaded at the wrong port, took three weeks to get it on another ship, but stuff arrived intact. Here's the list

Get them all round if you are paying yourself , just reading thro' all their web sites gives you ideas of how to handle stuff, and raise your awareness of issues you might not have though of yet!
The biggest complaint I hear is that people cannot believe that they have carted so much toot half way around the world. Unless it is a top make, or not avaliable where you are going you could probably live without it. If you are taking electrical to the States don't forget a trip to Maplins for LOTS of plug adaptors before you go. One lady has a rule of family heirlooms and the kids bedroom contents to move only. As stuff is out of sorts from country to country or is weather inappropriate, no longer functional. Be ruthless.
Could you replace it for less then the cost of transporting it?
I know somone who got a quote for shifting all their stuff and then asked for a percentage to be given for them to not move anything on company
cont ... money. They sold all that they owned, and used that money to airfrieght the few bits that were irreplacable.
Just to give you a few ideas to moot if appropriate in your circumstances. Also not on that list but used a lot in town are http://www.michaelgerson.com/about/index.htm
Bon Voyage. love Sense.

For some reason Allied Van Lines are used by the Asia Pacific relocators more.
If you are moving with kids, there are books about Third culture kids and ex-pat living that could be useful.
