woodworm
Hi hope this is the right forum, 6 months ago I moved into a 1930's house, prior to moving it was supposed to be have been treated for beetle infestation. I am now finding what I think may be woodworm beetles around the house. Can this be expected after treatment, or might it suggest that the treatment hasn't worked? The beetles that I have found are actually dead, altho there have been a couple still alive. Thank you in anticipation for any advice.

If so, contact whoever did it and ask for an inspection. If not, ask the vendor for it but if it is not forthcoming I'm afraid that you will have to get another specialist to come and have a look. There are a lot of cowboys in that business and it is wisest to deal only with the big firms and a name that you recognise.
Thank you for your reply, I do have a certificate but it was sunday when i became curious to know whether the beetles would still be around after treatment. Unfortunately, the firm was closed and I wanted to know sooner rather than later. I still don't know the answer as I haven't had time to ring them. For now I'm content with the knowledge that the ones I'm finding are dead, it's the ones that I'm not finding that may be alive I'm more concerned about. I will ring the company tomorrow (hopefully)
The larvee crawl around most of the year in the timber munching away, only when they mature they make their way to near the surface and change into adult beetles where they make a flight hole then they emmerge, mate, lay new eggs and then die usually 24-48 hrs. So with that in mind it is worrying to have found a couple of live beetles !!! but is quite common to find dead ones. I would deffinatley be ringing back first thing on Monday if I were you.
Ive been finding dead ones in our house for 11 yrs!! Nothing looks as though its going to fall apart though, so Im not really worried about it,. However if we had treated the problem, I would be concerned if I kept finding them after that! The firm that did the treatment will put your mind at rest, good luck.
