I rent a property and recently my agent gave up trading and I have been passed to another agent. My new agent sent a gas specialist to give the gas appliances a clean bill of health.( safety ). However the boiler has been condemned as the gas man said it was leaking water ( I think ) therefore not working properly. Now he has toddled off leaving me with no hot water , for all my cleaning needs. I also suffer from a condition which gives abdominal pain and one way I can relax is to soak in a hot bath. How long is a reasonable time to wait for this to be resolved? He hinted at a week before I could expect him to come back and replace the boiler, would it be unreasonable to ask for another company to become involved to get the job done quicker ? Any advice greatly appreciated.

I swear by this website for any landlords and tenants.

Is that how long it would take for a new boiler to arrive? I think if you were on a plan with say british gas they would fix it straight away. Has your landlord signed the property up for anything like that? A week is a long time, IMHO...

Thanks EmEd, what a great site. It would appear that my agent has a dedicated repair/service contract with a particular plumber and a week is what I am offered !! Thanks again I shall have a trawl .
i rent property and sent a plumber up to fix a couple of toilets and look at the boiler in a house??

he took away the mechanism in both toilets, didnt look at the boiler (thankfully) and went?? never to be seen since??????

No talk to the agent and tell him your problem

Thanks for your replies, I sidestepped the agent and with my landlords blessing had a new boiler fitted. Bliss......
