We have a cleaner who comes every week for 5 hours. She is so pleasant, always cheerful and doesn't just clean but irons our clothes and washes the dishes etc. She is from Romania originally and is trying to make ends meat here in the UK. I asked my girlfriends how much she pays her per hour and my gf said she gets 5:50 per hour (which is the minimum wage and more then the average Eastern European immigrant gets). However I think she should get more. She is so lovely and works her socks off every hour she is in our house. Never taking a nap or coffee break. What do you think?

Well most companies charge about 10 an hour and the ones the council use are crap so yeah i reakon if she is so good she shoudl get more maybe 7 an hour.
That is very cheap 5.50 an hour, cheapest i have heard for a private cleaner.

If you can afford to pay her more, it would probably be a good idea.

Good help is sooooo hard to find !!!

i do house cleaning and would not work for that nothing less than 10 pounds a hour .................and i have a sleep on the job lol
I'm absolutely appalled at some of the very nasty replies on this thread - shame on you!

Anyway - I would say that between 6.00 & 7.50 per hour would be fair pay for a cleaner sexyrussian.

Yes I mean if my gf was on an average wage I wouldn't mind so much but she's very comfortable (250,000k p.a) and it would be nothing to her and like you have said 5.50 is very cheap her hour. Then again it's not really my house,it's my gf's so don't want to really get involved.I think that my gf and I should be understanding because we both have come to this country from Eastern Europe albeit in much more favourable circumstances
then if you cleaner is happy with the arrangement, leave it as it is, If she was unhappy she would have got another job by now, I wouldnt worry about it

smudge-I just ignore them. Thanks though. In fact thanks for all the nice replies xxx
My cleaner costs 8 an hour! But a portion of that goes to the agency she works for so I'm not sure what she actually ends up getting. I always tidy before she comes, make sure there is no washing up so all she does really is hoover and dusting. If yours is there for 5 hours I would def give her a coffee break! Sit her down for 20 mins and have a chat. And a biscuit. She will appreciate that and I'm sure it will make her work harder after having had a break.
P.S. I'm only going on what my friend pays her cleaner. She does 6 hours a week @ 7.00per hour & she's quite happy with that - at the moment.

I personally wouldn't want to clean anyones house for less than a tenner per hour, but it isn't me & what I mentioned previously seems to be the going rate around here.
